  • 1st World Wide Work Flow Grid Workshop, June 5-7, 2007, Singapore
    • 1WWWFG Website sponsored and endorsed by APBioNet
    • Historically, in 2002, APBioNet was involved in grid and workflow interoperability: APBioGrid. This initiative was reported in BioInform. Nascent concepts of a BioWorldWideWorkFlow was set up in 2003 bioWWWF. We have seen the continuing good work of Professor A Konagaya in forging the LSGrid, with the forthcoming 4th conference in Glasgow Sep 2007, back to back with UK eScience All Hands Meeting in Nottingham. Today, we see the need for a triple convergence of Workflow, Grid and Semantic Web which is the theme of this 1st World Wide Work Flow Grid workshop (1WWWFG).

Introducing APBioNet

The Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet) is a non-profit, non-governmental, international organization. It focuses on the promotion of bioinformatics in the Asia Pacific Region. Since 1998, its mission has been to pioneer the growth and development of bioinformatics awareness, training, education, infrastructure, resources and research amongst member countries and economies. Its work includes the technical coordination and liaison with other international bodies such as the EMBnet.

APBioNet has more than 20 organizational and 300 individual members from over 12 countries in the region, and members include those from industry, academia, research, government, investors and international organisations. APBioNet has coordinated or co-organised more than 20 international and national meetings in cooperation with members in different economies. It is spearheading a number of key bioinformatics initiatives in the region in collaboration with international organisations such as APAN, APEC, S* Alliance and A-IMBN.

If you are based in the Asia Pacific region, and are interested in bioinformatics, APBioNet is where the latest action is taking place. Sign up for free individual membership and join right now - membership fees waived!

APBioNet has become an official regional affiliate of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). ISCB is the leading professional society for the new era of computational biology. APBioNet will be able to benefit from this strategic partnership with ISCB.
